My research interests are focused on transient flows of liquids in pressurized pipes. I deal with numerical modeling and simplification of analytical solutions related to this subject (water hammer; accelerated, decelerated, pulsatile, reversed flows).

Detailed summaries of scientific achievements can be found on one of the following scientific websites:

During the last 15 years, I have studied unsteady flows in pipes under pressure, taking into account:

  • the effect of the cavitation phenomenon;
  • unsteady hydraulic resistance;
  • the impact of the conduit material on the flow (elastic - metal conduits; viscoelastic - plastic conduits);
  • analysis of analytical models

An important phenomenon that I would like to implement soon in my own computer program is the effect of the interaction between the flowing liquid and the vibrating walls of the conduits which is called fluid structure interaction.

Hence, I am looking for a candidate for Phd studies who would like to deal with this subject in a theoretical and experimental way. Other topics on which I am looking for ambitious masters students is:

  • smart water supply systems;
  • localization of leakage in pipes etc;
  • viscoelastic properties of plastics used for pipes
